Ta-da!

As they say in French, "finis!" Thanks to Tonya for getting me going by hosting this 'class'!!!

and heading out for donation to JDRF.

I'm making it up as I go along!!!!

Well, I set up my french doors (one of the entrances into my sewing room) with a piece of batting hanging down and have started laying out my blocks.

and starting to connect the blocks...

Making it up as I go along and seeing where it leads me to (hopefully a finished quilt by next week!!!)

Phew! It's been awhile..

...since I posted but I have been working on my Hawaiian themed free pieced quilt (with bits of machine applique to help). It is freeeeeeezing outside so it is a good diversion to be thinking warm thoughts!




I have been diligently adding photos to my flickr set when I finish a block but I am not sure how many more blocks to add. I am under extreme pressure to have this done in just over a week.

Can I do it???????!!!!!!!!

It is getting cold outside...
but I am inside, thinking warm thoughts...
like Hawaii warm...

like beach warm...
almost felt like I was there, until I sit in a skating rink for an hour this afternoon!!!

I am NOT in Hawaii! I repeat... I am NOT in Hawaii!!! (I might wish I was... but I am not!)

But rather, I can be found in frosty, chilly upstate NY...

where there are lots of leaves to rake..but it is sunny....
I don't really have a plan set for this quilt which I plan to have raffled off in January but this is what I am up to so far...

Do you all start with a sketched plan???

How about a free pieced hibiscus??? ideas??? I am trying things out in the sewing room but am not sure how it is going to turn out, stay tuned.....

Happy Friday Morning!

Still fairly new to this liberated piecing and to Tonya's groups! I have about three liberated projects so far....

and I am still expanding my repetoire...

and trying to finish up some...

I do have a house project in mind (and I love to make house quilts!!!) which will need to be done by mid January. The project is a Hawaiian house quilt to be raffled off to raise funds for the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation to help those like my 9 year old daughter who face the challenges of type 1 diabetes each and every day.
